Best bags

A woman can never get away with just one 'useful bag'. What will she do when she goes to the ball, wears different coloured clothes, gets on a plane or goes down to the beach? There are many occasions when we need a bag, and for each of these we should have at least one example. So if you are that girl who owns only a practical navy shoulder bag, it's off to the shops you must go.

Here is your list for an ideal bag collection.

• Day bag in brown. This will be worn with all colours apart from black, though ideally we would like you to get a few different colours.
• Day bag in black. Not as useful, funnily enough, as the brown, because you can only wear it with black, white, grey or taupe.
• Funky fabric bag. Dotted with a few beads or flowers, this is great for playtime and when you're going out for dinner.
• Evening bag. Best to get this to match up with your jewellery. If you like diamonds, get a silver bag, and if you are a gold girl, get a gold one.
• Travel bag. One that will fit in the overhead locker of a plane. This will double up as a weekend bag.
• Beach bag. Preferably lined in something that can be wiped clean when your sun cream leaks or water seeps into it.
• No bag bag. A bag that is little more than a wallet for the days when you need carry only the bare essentials, like keys, card and phone.
