More finishing touches

Work to play

There's nothing more boring for your friends than seeing you turn up every evening in that same old suit you've been wearing all day. It will make you feel tired and it will make them feel like you don't think they're worth the effort. The solution here is to carry a few things in your bag that will transform your daywear into a night-time look. These need only be small and lightweight, for example: earrings, a pair of fishnet tights, scent, a more dramatic lipstick, an embroidered camisole to replace the work shirt, and a pair of sparkly heels to lift your spirits. Leave the big bag in the cloakroom and top off your outfit with a gorgeous little evening purse.

Lip Gloss

We're guessing that you usually wear nothing on your lips or else a harsh matt lipstick. Either way, a soft gloss will make a subtle, yet remarkable change for you. Other people will notice, but they won't twig what you've done. Try saying the following to your mirror: 'It is my pleasure to present this report to the board', first with bare lips, then wearing your matt lipstick, and finally, with a luscious lip gloss. See the difference?

Hair

Take the time to blow-dry and style your hair, perhaps on Sunday night? Then at least it will look great until Tuesday. If you find that you don't have time to deal with your hair anymore by Wednesday and you feel that you simply must scrape it back into that old ponytail, use some hairclips or flowers that will complement your outfit. Make sure that you brush your hair before you pull it back, otherwise you'll just end up with the 'rat's nest' look. Even a humble ponytail needs to be styled.
