How to work out which colours suit you

Once you have established which colour category you are in, you might find that the green that is suggested is not the one you have worn before - but it will suit you more than the green in your pile.

When you have worked out your final colours, move on to our colour co-ordination pages to see our suggestions for ways to wear each individual colour. (see The Rules).

We will take the 16 basic colours (including black and white) and show what colours to wear with them. In all instances, the colour on the left is the basic dominant colour, the two colours next to it are ideal co-ordinates, and the colour on the right is an accent colour. This will look great as an accessory or in a scarf or detail, or as a secondary colour to wear when you are feeling extra confident.

Left This is one of Susannah's worst colours. It completely flattens her complexion and deadens the shine in her hair.

Right Watermelon is one of her best colours, bringing alive her skin, eyes and hair.
