Why: think back to the Princess of Wales's worst looks and they will surely be one of those ghastly shift dresses she wore. Not blessed with a waist, she looked very mannish in this most dull of dresses, that have only ever looked good on Jackie Onassis. The reason? She was fragile to the extreme, with great legs, no tits and a very square jaw.
Fitted, made in soft material with small print
Why: the busyness of the fabric draws attention away from the real story of not having a waist underneath it. Delicate fabric is an added distraction, as there is always some movement to it.
